While no one can say South Africans don’t deserve their democracy, it’s clear to see democracy has become a headache for the country. We saw this with how Mbeki was deposed. Jacob Zuma is now learning what the Tswana mean when they say the one who laughs at a lass is the one who ends up marrying it. The chickens have come home to roost!
Look, there are times when I dislike our president as much as you do; we all know how he acts like someone who hit his head on a rock sometimes; like during the strike. But this is a guy who knows there’s a limit to which you allow nonsense. Every normal black person knows that to give black people absolute freedom is to kill them completely. Just explain to me how it is normal for people to go around tossing garbage bins just because they want the government to increase their salaries by a few percentages? Can any government function that implements a policy tonight and have people from ghettos going around insulting everyone just because government didn’t knock on each and every one’s door saying may we?
You see, when Africans were led by chiefs, everyone knew their place. The old chiefs didn’t take any nonsense from anyone. They knew well that it was poisonous to give ordinary people permission to do as they please. Old chiefs didn’t care for anyone’s opinion. They understood that leaders of people need a quite time sometimes, and for they put their foot down. This is why Africans tell you in a wilderness that doesn’t have a tortoise-elephant, nonentities reign. South Africans have too much freedom, it’s clear to see that Jacob Zuma as an elephant-tortoise has lost the plot! It beats me why the poor guy won’t take into his presidential jet and come and ask for ideas from our president over beer.
Look, you will not hear me say South Africans were wrong to take independence in ‘94. Apartheid was a horrible system. I, like many people believe that racist whites got away with a lot. Many people agree that apartheid was so heinous that all the racist whites and everyone else who benefitted from it should have been rounded up and shot on the head on the day of liberation. Many honest black people will tell you Mandela was a chicken for embracing that drivel on reconciliation. Many black South Africans will tell you that they were never going to eat and sleep reconciliation. What they really wanted was for the new government to cut exclusive white suburbs in to half and move half the black population in squatter camps there, and cut locxions into half and move a good number of whites there. They wanted the government to take over banks, land and industries and give black people a fair share because after all, these things were realized by the whites who abused blacks and looted from their land. They wanted anyone who didn’t like this arrangement to leave. No one wrote whites a letter in Europe inviting them to come here!
Black people believed that Nelson Mandela, from being a proper black person, would get on with the job and sort out the racists. Black people don’t give the other chick like the thin bloke who was nailed on the cross in the bible. First off, many black people don’t understand the concept. We just believe in doing unto others what they didn’t unto us. That is how we teach respect to people who try to be funny; not by drinking tea and feigning love the way Mandela did with white racists. Black people are smart enough to know racists will always be racists.
This is why many South Africans today feel dishounored by the type of democracy South Africa is practicing. I mean, at a basic level, many South Africans understand democracy to mean you could pee in the same urinal next to a white bloke and not give a damn if he likes it or not. To that extent everything is understood. But from what I can make out, South Africans are tired of the kind of democracy in which some whites forget themselves and act like its still Apartheid, not give a rat’s ass about the feelings of black folks.
Just the other day a white artist drew a picture he called The Spear, of a man clearly resembling Jacob Zuma with his genitals hanging out. This picture caused a furore so big the whole country came to a standstill. You see, black people were duped in 1994. Democracy was never thoroughly explained to the black South Africans.
When they heard that under the new dispensation you could spit on the face of a white person many black people ran around ululating and missed the core of the message. No law was put out that barred white people from making fun of black people as and when they pleased. This is why the white bloke thought nothing of laying Zuma’s genitals in public. Had black people known that democracy was a system in which whites could still get away with certain provocations and validate them with sophisticated reasons, many black people would have been happy with the option of shipping every last white person to Europe!
