With heightened competition in the local telecommunications sector, Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) is trying its best to get a slice of the lucrative mobile phone windfall.

BoBCs Bolsters FNB's Profits
The First National Bank of Botswana (FNB) announced a 21 percent increase in year-on-year profit, thanks to a turnaround in net interests and growth advances in Bank of Botswana Certificates (BoBCs). The year under review saw profits rise by over P253,000 representing an increase of 31.5 percent compared to the previous year. Total assets registered a staggering upsurge of 116 percent due to increased BoBCs holdings and advances, which rose by 9.4 percent.
