They are Professor Runner Majinda, who becomes full Professor of Chemistry, Professor Richard Tabulawa, who has been appointed Associate Professor of Languages and Social Sciences Education, and Professor Lalit Sharma, who has been promoted to the level of Associate Professor of Physics.
The others are Professor Patrick Squire, who becomes Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics, and Professor Vallantino Emongor, promoted to Associate Professor of Crop Science and Production.
Professor Majinda, the first citizen of Botswana to be promoted to full Professor of Chemistry, has been Head of the Department of Chemistry since 2002. He joined the University of Botswana in 1987 as a Staff Development Fellow. He is the holder of a PhD and a Master of Science degree, both from the University of Strathcyde, Glasgow, and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Botswana.
Professor Richard Tabulawa, a Botswana citizen, joined the University of Botswana as a Staff Development Fellow in 1987.
He was Head of Department of Languages and Social Sciences from 1996 to 2000. He is the holder of a PhD from the University of Birmingham, a Master's degree in Education from the University of Manchester, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Botswana.
Professor Sharma, an Indian, holds a PhD from APS University in India, a Master of Science and a Bachelor of Science degree, both from Rajastan University, also in India. He joined the University in 1997 as a Lecturer in Physics.
Professor Squire, a Sierra Leonean, joined the Faculty of Agriculture as Senior Lecturer in 1995. He is a holder of a PhD from Ohio State University, a Master's in Science from the University of Arizona, and a Bachelor of Science degree obtained from the University of Sierra Leone. Professor Emongor, from Kenya, joined the Faculty of Agriculture as Senior Lecturer in 2001. He is armed with a PhD from the University if Guelph in Canada, a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science degrees, both from the University of Nairobi.
