Coke Cup saga
In a dramatic turn of events, organisers of the Coca-Cola Cup have announced that BDF XI will meet Notwane in the finals after defending champions Township Rollers failed to honour a semi-final replay last night. Till Wednesday this week, Rollers were headed to the final after hammering BDF XI 3-0 in the semis. However the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) National Appeals Board (NAB) hurled a major spanner in the works when it ordered a replay after it deliberated on a case filed by BDF XI over Zambian striker Bernard Semakwezi.

Daka faces first test
FRANCISTOWN: ECCO City Greens' new head coach Barry Daka is facing his first test this weekend when his charges battle in the quarterfinal of the inaugural World Group of Companies sponsored 40th Independence Anniversary Cup. 'Mamojadiski' have a tricky date against minnows Tiny Rockies on Sunday.

Netball teams off to Malawi
National women and men netball teams leave by road to Malawi today to take part in the Confederation of Southern African Netball Associations (COSANA) tournament. The competition starts next Wednesday and ends on September 16. Women's coach Joe Makakaba said that they will hoist the nation's flag high at the event. He told Mmegi Sport yesterday that they have prepared well and the players are raring to go. "We'll bring a medal from Malawi. The players have been willing to learn and that's something which has made me feel confident," Makakaba told Mmegi Sport.
