Independence celebrations: The aftermath
It is quiet now. The city, and the country too are silent and almost sedated with the bitter after-taste of last weekend’s excitement. The long weekend is over and the city of Gaborone seems to be in a slumber. Like a drunk stuck in a morning of hang-overs after a night of binge drinking, the city looks tired and broken.

40th anniversary celebrated in Dubai
A handful of Batswana resident in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) got together to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Botswana’s independence. The celebrations were held at the home of Mike and Agnes Dudu Brook in Dubai.

Francistown celebrates peacefully
FRANCISTOWN: The 40th Independence weekend celebrations in Francistown were relatively peaceful. Station Commander for Kutlwano Police Station, Superintendent Filton Fidzane said that only about one case of house break-ins or robbery was reported each day since the beginning of the holidays.
