Police tighten border patrols
FRANCISTOWN: Police along the border with neighbouring Zimbabwe say they will increase their visibility along the border areas to effectively combat cross-border crime. With continuous reports of 'Foot and Mouth Disease' (FMD) along Botswana's border with Zimbabwe, the move is expected to help the already troubled cattle and beef industry. In 2002, Botswana reported a case of FMD in Lephaneng, and in 2003 at Matopi, along the Matsiloje border and last year it was at Pandamatenga. Last week, the Department of Animal Health and Production reported a case of FMD in Bobirwa.
