The 23-year-old Masole, a Sociology student at the University of Botswana (UB) has already prepared leaflets for her campaign. She is chairperson of the UB Congress of Democracy (UBCD). "I believe that BCP is capable of continuing to be the fastest growing party, if it has active structures led by capable, selfless and productive persons. The BCP youth wing should not only lead all structures but should also breathe new life and strength into them," she says. She said although the youth constitute 50 percent of the total population of the country, they are not represented in the top echelons of the civil service and politics. She lamented that the youth are in the forefront when it comes to bad behaviour and crime. "As the BCP youths, it is our duty to spearhead ideas that may change and make our youth league attractive to the youth. These ideas must not only be attractive to the youth but should also have their interest at heart," Masole said. She said her vision is to change the party youth wing to become a viable structure that generates new ideas. "When I'm elected the youth league president, I will present a working strategy to attract the youth to our party and sell the party to the people. I've realised that Freedom Squares are not attractive to the youth." She said that she has realised that the youth wing of all parties have difficulty in identifying their priorities. "All the different political parties' youth leagues have not found the cure for youth malady and have not identified ways that can produce results regarding the youth problems," she said. Another challenge that she wants to tackle, if elected, would be to start a committee to seriously address issues that negatively affect youths. "I'll also bring new initiatives that will strengthen the youth league and encourage cooperation with other organisations even those that are not political," Masole said. She wants to revolutionise BCP youth league so that it sheds old working ideas and espouse 21st century models.
