LERALA: The recent rains have caused destruction in villages in the Tswapong area. In Lerala, a storm destroyed houses and left about 48 villagers homeless.

The village's disaster committee carried out an assessment last week to determine the extent of the damage and what is needed to help the victims. Some village authorities prepared a report recommending that 21 of the most affected homes should be provided with temporary accommodation in the form of tents. They recommended that those who lost food items will be granted replacement. The residents were advised to build durable houses. Authorities from Central District Council arrived on Wednesday last week to deliver tents. Chief Sello Moroka said about 15 homes were completely destroyed. He said as rains were continuing to fall, more homes are being destroyed.
