Bifm not happy with BBS date

Botswana Insurance Fund Management (Bifm) has complained about the date set by Botswana Building Society (BBS) for a Special General Meeting. Head of Corporate Communications at Bifm, Mothusi Lekalake yesterday expressed dissatisfaction regarding "the purported notice of meeting".

He was however cagey to discuss the matter further, saying "we are calling a press conference on Monday, at which we would reveal a lot of things". This week, BBS splashed advertorials in the print media, inviting its members to a Special General Meeting to be held on the 19th August this year at the Society's head office in Gaborone. Bifm and others have called the meeting in the past few weeks. Board Secretary of BBS, Sipho Showa defended the date, saying the Society has widespread membership across the country, which even spells to neighbouring countries. The members, he said, have to be accorded enough time to prepare ahead of the meeting.
