The Coke Cup Tango rolls on
The Coca-Cola Cup has reached a crucial stage. It is now or never for many Premier League teams, some of which struggled to reach the round of 16 against minnows last weekend. For the next two days, it will either be heart-break or joy for many titans of local soccer as the battle for quarter-finals takes place. The draw for the last 16 threw up some interesting matches, which have already set tongues wagging. Mmegi Sports editor TSHEPO MOLWANE analyses the eight games in the round.

Tsenang rejoins TASC
FRANCISTOWN: Former TAFIC captain Osenyeng 'Bashin' Tsenang has rejoined city rivals TASC. Tsenang leaves after he helped TAFIC to regain promotion to the Premier League. He last played for TASC in 2001.

BFA honours women footballers
Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer, Thabo Ntshinogang has urged women footballers to stay long in the game in order to build better profiles. He regretted the tendency of the women to retire early from sport. "There is no way you can make a good profile if you retire at the age of 20," he said. Ntshinogang was speaking on Wednesday at a prize giving ceremony for the teams which participated in the just ended women football league.

Castle Cup battle moves to Namibia
The final piece in the COSAFA Castle Cup semi-final will fall in place this weekend when four countries do battle at the Sam Nujoma Stadium in the Katatura Township in Namibia. The top team in the COSAFA Castle Cup Group C mini-tournament joins Botswana, Angola and holders Zimbabwe in the semi-final.

Crowded calendar harms local football
Attempts to change the soccer calendar back to the olden days when it conformed to the living patterns and norms of Botswana society was rejected by the Botswana Football Association (BFA) affiliates at the last general assembly. As usual, emotions more than reasoning clouded the minds of the affiliates. Since last year, players have been engaged fulltime with no rest at all.
