The Rise Of The Tabloids
In 1992, the Labour Party was poised for an historic victory in the British general elections. Having spent 13 years in the political wilderness, the opinion polls were pointing to the demise of the Conservative Party, then led by John Major.

Security Guards
Although there may now be more people employed as security guards than domestic or civil servants, I admit to a certain ambivalence about them. Sure enough, many are good fellows, friendly and keen to help. But there are others who are... well, let me give you three recent examples.
