Zebras Get Defending Champions Again
For the second time in a row, Botswana has been paired with reigning champions in the qualifiers for the African Cup of Nations. Last week the draw for the 2008 edition in Ghana pitted the Zebras against holders Egypt and two lightweights Mauritania and Burundi in Group Two. In the last qualifiers, Botswana was in the same group with defending champions Tunisia in a difficult group that included continental powerhouse Morocco, Guinea, Malawi and Kenya. The current draw is relatively easy with only Egypt as the major threat. Botswana Football Association (BFA) president, Phillip Makgalemele has welcomed the draw saying that it is good. However, he cautioned that every nation is showing signs of improvement and no group is easy. He was not happy that for the second time, Botswana has been fixtured against the reigning champions.
