Degeneration of World AIDS Day must stop
When the World AIDS Day commemoration began in 1998, its sole purpose was to focus global attention on the devastating impact of the HIV/AIDS epidemic. But we learn with dismay that in Botswana, the day that was meant to encourage the spirit of tolerance and greater exchange of information has now been reduced to a mere parade of government officials who gather to sing praise poems on the strides that they have made in combating the epidemic.
