Masitara's case goes to Grand Palm

The case in which Robert Masitara is charged with rape is likely to be held at The Grand Palm/Gaborone International Convention Centre next week. Mmegi has been informed that the reason for having the proceedings at the place is to utilise its wiring system to be able to use the Video Link technology.

The Extension Two Magistrate Court recommended that the technology should be used to obtain the remaining part of the evidence from South African-based Science Professor, Andre Servaas Greeff. The professor was called by the defence to testify early this year and he is said to be ill and unable to travel to Gaborone for the court proceedings.

Defence attorney, Doreen Khama, did not want to be drawn into discussing the case yesterday, referring Mmegi enquiries to the Extension Two Magistrate Court. The Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) has offered to assist with the technology.
