The Winners Code Surge Ahead
There were two very clever boys and a wise old man, so I have heard the story told. The two boys stayed in the village by the mountains while the old wise man made his abode in the mountains. Learning to read and write is the concern of basic education today. The information age, knowledge economy and globalization create more pressure for learning. Nations are still characterized by many citizens who have lost the opportunity to gain access to basic education or fail to complete basic literacy programs in schools. For the remainder of the year, starting this week, Monday Meeting will turn its attention to the domestic front; for there is a lot happening, especially in the political arena, that beg commentary. My! Monday Meeting is spoiled for choice. For starters, we have a tide of unionism sweeping across the country with labour leaders, urged on by opposition suitors and a pro-opposition private press, politicising their movements and placing them firmly in opposition camps without the mandate of the general membership.
