A noteworthy 100 percent overall pass rate was achieved in 9 out of 10 subjects offered. A significant credit increase was recorded in the following subjects: Accounting 100 percent; Economics 100%; Geography 90 percent. English as a Second Language and Biology retained 100 percent credit passes.
The School is delighted by this result and congratulates all its hardworking teachers and students from HIGCSE 2006 class. HIGCSE, which Legae introduced to Botswana in January 1997, is a globally recognised one-year post GCSE or "O" Level programme designed by Cambridge as a southern African alternative equivalent to the Commonwealth standards of the South African Matric, the Australian Higher Secondary Certificate, and the Scottish Higher.
According to South African Government Gazette, students qualify for university entrance with four HIGCSE passes plus an additional lower level IGCSE pass.
A leading UK curriculum guide notes that "passes in five subjects, with an average grade of three, in each subject, may be considered to satisfy the general entrance requirements of the British higher education institutions", while a "growing number of American universities" are awarding HIGCSE graduates with Advanced Placement Credits.
