BBS introduces money transfer service

The Botswana Building Society (BBS) will introduce a Morongwa Money Transfer Service on Monday to enable customers to transfer cash in a cheap and convenient manner. The service will be available for both BBS and non-BBS customers.

“The main reason for Morongwa’s introduction is to help provide a service which we believe is reasonably cheap and convenient to customers. In the times we live in we believe that people have to cut costs in terms of travelling to deliver money to their relatives and friends. And thus we believed that there was a need to provide such a service,” said BBS head of corporate affairs, Sipho Showa.

He explained that they are targeting anyone who wants to transfer money, including those who are not customers. At this time, the service will only be for transferring money from the BBS branches only and no transfers can be made from other banks to BBS. “As we get more customers, they will make suggestions and the management will access those accordingly,” Showa said.

He further noted that the introduction of this latest service by BBS is another indication of the society’s keenness to ensure that Batswana are provided with the best service in the financial sector. He asserted that those utilising the service would be able to do so anywhere there is a BBS branch in Botswana. The society currently has branches in Gaborone, Francistown, Serowe, Selebi-Phikwe, Maun, Kasane and Lobatse.
