40th Anniversary Awards
Last week I noted that Mobuto Sese Seke was amongst those who were given the Presidential Order of Honour at the tenth anniversary of Independence and wondered how the government might avoid a similar embarrassment next year, at its 40th anniversary? I then discovered that people are already drawing up lists of those who might qualify for a 40th award. It’s good that they are doing so because not just because it is an excellent idea to have special awards to mark this anniversary but because much work and thought will be needed to devise a satisfactory and credible scheme.Do The Right Thing: Go And Vote On Saturday
By the time you read this newspaper next week the people of Gaborone West North will have exercised their democratic right by electing a representative of their choice to the national assembly.
