Survival International war is not serving Batswana
The appointment of a British national to wage a media war against Survival International (SI) is the Botswana government’s latest tactic in its war of words against the British NGO. The individual selected for this assignment is on a three-year contract and will be based at the Botswana High Commission in London. The cost to the taxpayer will be P500, 000 per annum. It is not clear what the significance of the 3-year contract is. Perhaps the government hopes that, in time, it will have dealt a deathblow to SI. And there will be no need for any further action to defend its controversial policy of relocating the Basarwa residents of the Central Kalahari Game Reserve (CKGR).
