“I have no wish, no intention and no desire at all to venture into active politics,” he said.
He added that at a Kgotla meeting in Kanye recently, he made a vow to continue serving Bangwaketse when he returned from his ambassadorial assignment in China. “I told Bangwaketse that as their son, I cannot dump them.”
He told Mmegi that some politicians wanted him to join their political parties but he is not interested.
“I have no intention of actively associating myself with any political organisation at the moment as I am comfortable at Bangwaketse Kgotla.
I told them that I have no intention of actively involving myself with any party at the moment,” he stressed.
He said as a son of Bangwaketse, he has an obligation to serve the people and “there is no way I can divide the tribe by engaging in partisan politics”.
He would rather unite the tribe than divide it.
He said no amount of money could buy him out of the Kgotla.
“Le fa motho a ka tla ka diponto, ke tla a tsaya sheleng wa Bangwaketse (Even if a person could bring pounds to the table, I would go for what Bangwaketse pay me.)”
Seeepapitso’s father, the late Bathoen Gaseitsiwe was at some stage, the president of the opposition, Botswana National Front (BNF).
Leader of opposition and BNF secretary general, Akanyang Magama, told Mmegi yesterday that he is no aware that Seepapitso was planning to join the party.
“We haven’t heard anything about such a move. Some of the things are done at local level but as we speak, the secretariat doesn’t know anything about that.”
Barolong chief, Kgosi Lotlaamoreng also dismissed reports that he has shown interest in joining the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
“There is no truth in that and such allegations are totally misleading and false,” he said. The youthful Lotlaamoreng indicated that he will serve his tribe.
“Who told you that I have registered interest to venture into politics? Lo seka lwa ne lo tsamaya lo sela sela dilo mo nageng (You shouldn’t just pick on anything around.)”
He stressed that his chieftainship duties come first.
