A veteran of beauty pageants
The newly crowned Miss Botswana, Lorato Tebogo comes across as a humble and outgoing girl. The 20- year-old is a third year Bachelor of Arts student at the University of Botswana (UB). She comes from Manyana but she grew up in Gaborone. She went to Boitumelo Primary School in Sebele near Gaborone where her mother was a teacher.

Thapong hosts Botswana’s first visual exhibition
Thapong Visual Art Centre in collaboration with Shell Botswana last Friday launched the first visual art exhibition in the country. The event took place at the Thapong Gallery in Gaborone. Participants were drawn from Botswana, Angola, Lesotho, Namibia, Mozambique, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. The exhibition is expected to close on January 20, 2006.

Love affair of feet and sand
‘San Dance’ is the basic idea of a recording project. At least from my point of view. ‘San’ is the kinder name for Bushman. The African sociologists made the word popular in the late 1960s. Partly, this was in protest against the ‘Bushman’ name, which was given to the original inhabitants of the continent by the white anthropologists who drove around Africa, looking for aboriginal creatures.
