The Traits Of A Genuine Scribe
Zimbabwean writer, Dambudzo Marechera (1952-87) in a poem impishly titled “Thoughts of a Rusty Nail Recently Hit on the Head”, addresses the notions of courage and cowardice. He writes, “Fear is the flesh, the gorgeous dress my skeleton wears”. Yet in another work he makes one of his characters say, “ A genuine writer must expect all kinds of trouble from every quarter. There is no room for cowardice in writing”.

Secret Police
There were several developments in the last few weeks, which were particularly encouraging. One was the news that the rail service between Francistown and Bulawayo is likely to be revived soon. As a railway enthusiast, I welcome this particular rolling back of history but more to the point, the restoration of any form of communication, which had been tossed away and lost.

Should Our Leaders Be Christians?
I was reading an article, which seemed to be critical of leaders who are Christians. I thought it noble to consider the pros and cons of Christianity against spiritism (witchcraft) especially for our African leaders.
