He said going to Parliament will empower him to protect the charity organisation from petty individuals who are bent on sabotaging him.
Ever since he was crowned the BDP parliamentary hopeful for Gaborone West North, the businessman has draped the Masitara Foundation vehicles with campaign posters. This has raised eyebrows from those who say the foundation is a separate entity from the politician. But Masitara remains unfazed.
In a telephone interview on Saturday, he said there is no way he could disassociate himself from the foundation during his campaigns for political office.
“Masitara Foundation remains apolitical because it serves and will continue to serve everyone regardless of party affiliation. In fact we do not ask anyone about their party affiliation when they need our help,” he said. Masitara said going to Parliament would help him achieve the objectives of the foundation. He stated that he has encountered endless opposition as some powerful individuals in government frustrated the foundation’s agenda.
Masitara added that the aeroplane his foundation acquired a year ago cannot operate effectively under the prevailing atmosphere.
“The reason why the aeroplane is not operating is that it is not safe. We want to protect it from individuals who want to sabotage us. It is currently kept at a locality I cannot mention, but once I go to Parliament, you will see the plane,” he said.
There has been skepticism that the plane which was flaunted around was just rented and not owned by Masitara had made people to believe.
