Government Cleaner Appears In Court

On 18th August 2005, Keabetswe Sweele appeared before Village Court Magistrate Takura Charumbira on three counts of obtaining money by false pretences contrary to Section 308 of the Penal Code.


The charge sheet says that on and about May 2004, Sweele whilst under the employ of the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication, obtained the total sum of P1680.00 from two different people by false pretense with intent to defraud.

These was under the pretext that she was a licensing officer and could therefore issue a drivers licence to the duo when, in fact and in truth the accused person knew her representation to be false.

Sweele who pleaded not guilty was not represented whilst Shatani Manko of the DCEC represented the State. Sweele will appear again for mention on 16th September 2005.
