Botswana beat Tanzania in Tri-Nations rugby
The national rugby team - the Vultures - started the inaugural Confederation of African Rugby (CAR Tri-Nations tournament on a high note yesterday when they beat Tanzania 38-12 at the University of Botswana (UB) stadium. The other country which is participating in the tournament is Swaziland.

BOBSA teams bring home trophies
The Botswana Brigade Sports Association (BOBSA) teams have brought home seven trophies after friendly games in South Africa last weekend. The BOBSA teams played Tshwane University of Technology sides in volleyball, chess, football, netball and table tennis.

Serena plays in style
Serena Williams thrashed Sandra Kleinova at the US Open after stunning the New York crowd with her most bizarre outfit to date. The third seed had little difficulty seeing off her Czech opponent 6-1 6-3 in 53 minutes, and will face compatriot Lindsay Lee-Waters in round two.

Man Utd sign Rooney
Manchester United have completed the signing of Wayne Rooney from Everton in a deal which could be worth £27m. United will pay Everton a guaranteed £20m, with that rising to as much as £27m according to the 18-year-old’s strikers appearances and achievements.
