On the other hand, Mafolofolo women were not so lucky as they were walloped 3-0 by TRW. BDF V1 lost 0-3 to their South African counterparts, TRW while Mafofololo also lost by the same margin to TRW women team.
Despite the first losses, Botswana Volleyball Federation (BVF) vice president (Technical), Waboraro Mokgatla told Mmegi Sport that it was not a case of the opponents’ domination against the two sides but that small mistakes led to the heavy losses. Mokgatla also said that there is no reason to panic as the teams played well and have a chance to qualify for the semi finals should they win their remaining games. Mafolofolo were expected to play Lesotho’s Mahlaseli yesterday evening.
The tournament comprises of teams from other countries in the southern African region including Zambia, Swaziland, Lesotho, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) Executive Secretary and acting Sports Development Officer undertook a trip to South Africa and Swaziland yesterday. The two officials will be visiting Tshwane University in Pretoria on Elite Sport Scholarship matters and Boxing South Africa on matters related to professional boxing. While in South Africa, the Executive Secretary will attend the SCSA Zone VI Communication Committee meeting and will proceed to Swaziland for the SCSA Zone VI Executive committee meeting. They are expected back home on October 30.
