And, for a change, the approach was different from the other games whereby the team has been more defence minded than attack minded and the overall play was better than the other games.
Looking at the log table of Group E, I am of the opinion that the Zebras now just need six points from the last remaining five games to qualify for Egypt 2006.
I am inclined to think that we can beat Guinea here at home, draw with Tunisia, Kenya and Malawi.
At the moment, Botswana is competing with Morocco, Tunisia and Kenya for third spot.
But having said that, I tend to think that Dr Leapetswe Malete will have to do a lot in psyching our players when they play away.
From my observation, the team has only graduated regionally but when they go to far away places, they tend to become nervous. I think that this was the case both in Tunisia and Guinea. Our resolve should transcend beyond southern Africa.
Equally, Kenya will come with all sorts of tactics including dirty ones to win the return tie and so will Morocco.
At the same time I take it that coach Veselin Jelusic has learnt something from the Kenyan game in so far as the strength of the team is concerned and should build from that.
Generally, Botswana teams are not good at counter attack because that is not practiced very much at club level. Ambushing of teams was well executed by Notwane during the Paul Moyo era, hence the label that the team was not entertaining.
With that said, the Zebras need more support as far as their preparations for the next game is concerned. The efforts should be doubled because the chance of a first ever Africa Cup of Nations finals appearance is in their hands.
I hope Dorcas Malesu and Edmund Dladla will do all they can to help the Zebras reach Egypt in 2006.
