Commercial banks record significant credit growth The Central Bank - Bank of Botswana (BoB) said last week that the year-on-year credit growth from the commercial banks was 10.4 percent in September.
According to the bank, the growth is significant from the 9.2 percent registered in the month of August.HATAB gearing up for AGM

Junior Achievement Botswana (JAB) was last week commended for moulding the youth into responsible citizens.
Speaking at a dinner ceremony to mark JAB’s 10th anniversary last Friday, President Festus Mogae said in focusing its work on the youth and offering them an opportunity to gain business knowledge and experience, JAB is contributing to the implementation of the National Youth Policy.
Standard Chartered may make bid for SA bank
KUALA LUMPUR: Emerging market banking group Standard Chartered could make a bid for a South African bank as it increases its retail presence in SA.
Standard Chartered was rumoured to have approached Absa before Barclays Bank announced that it was making a bid for a majority stake in the local bank.
