PHK’s group plots comeback strategy After being thrown into disarray last week, the Kedikilwe-Kwelagobe faction is regrouping, and is already planning for next year’s congress. The embattled Kedikilwe-Kwelagobe faction in the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) has started hatching a plot to take control of the party at the next congress.

No arrests in soldier’s killing
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has said that they have not made any arrests in connection with the death of a Botswana Defence Force soldier last week.

BDP elder calls for peace
Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) elder Knox Kowa has called for peace and reconciliation in the party. Speaking to Mmegi yesterday, Kowa said President Festus Mogae and his Vice President, Ian Khama, should not accept that they are factional leaders.

Double ruling in Segametsi case
The Lobatse High Court has made a double ruling in a case in which Mokgalo Sekobye was suing the state for unlawful detention. Sekobye was one of the suspects arrested in 1994 in connection with the ritual murder of a Mochudi schoolgirl, Segametsi Mogomotsi. Suspecting that Sekobye was involved in the murder, the Mochudi police arrested him on November 10 1994 but released him two days later.

FRANCISTOWN: Members of the Selebi-Phikwe branch of the Botswana Mining Workers Union (BMWU) resolved on Wednesday not to cooperate with the BCL mine management.

Museum boss says Francistown residents do not appreciate art
FRANCISTOWN and surrounding areas have proved to be a bad market for artifacts, Stella Rundle, the Director of Supa Ngwao Museum told Mmegi yesterday. She said that the area has a low appreciation of artworks. This has been proved by the low turn-out during the biennial exhibition hosted for artists in the greater northern region by the museum.
