In an interview with Mmegi, Modubule said he could only confirm Masala’s suspension from the party, pending a hearing, but he was not at liberty to disclose the circumstances leading to the suspension.
“I cannot say anything at the moment, because it might jeopardise his case,” Modubule said adding that Masala was suspended by the Lobatse BNF Constituency Committee. He said the date of the hearing has not been set. Masala acknowledged receipt of the letter, informing him of his suspension. He said the letter was not descriptive of the nature of the suspension, adding that it only said he was suspended for indiscipline.
According to information reaching Mmegi, Masala had previously expressed interest in opposing Modubule in the party primaries. But he was thwarted by a memorandum stating that all public officers were to resign before they could try their luck in politics. Masala acknowledged his intentions to contest the constituency were crushed by the memorandum, forbidding public officers from campaigning for elections.
