‘I laid trap for Gupta’ - Mfa
ASSISTANT Minister in the Office of the President Olifant Mfa has told the Village Magistrate Court that he baited the man accused of attempting to bribe him, Anil Gupta, so that he could deliver him to the law. Giving evidence yesterday, Mfa said that he accepted an offer of money and a two-piece suit from Gupta purely to expose the accused who wanted favours to obtain a practice certificate for an optician.

Policeman in court over P2 million theft
A policeman and his wife yesterday appeared at the Village Magistrate’s Court to answer charges of stealing over P2 million from the government. David Loftus William (38) is said to have stolen P23 048.68 on March 20, 2000 and paid P15, 868.38 as a salary to his wife Seonyana William (36), who is not a government employee. The arrangement continued until August 2002 when the accused couple stole different sums of money.
