The loss denied Tasc the St Louis Super League championship and saved FC Satmos from sinking into the lower division.
“We planned for the game with a view to finishing our opponents off, but the players did not execute our game plan,” Mpote said. He told Mmegi Sport in a post-match interview that his team’s problem was in the middle of the field, where they remained dysfunctional for the better part of the game.
“Our boys lost concentration during the game and they were always in a hurry to get balls but in the end they lost most of them,” he said.
He added that his players fumbled and missed many opportunities throughout the game and conceded that they lacked purpose.
“Our intention was to take the league but unfortunately we slipped off at the last minute.”
Following their bitter loss, Tasc is now focusing on the prestigious Coca-Cola Cup.
“Coca-Cola is our next hope and you will remember how we performed in the last cup. We will work very hard towards that,” he said.
Satmos coach, China Mading was over the moon as a result of his team’s brilliant performance. “After Sono’s death (their former coach and financier) the performance of the team went down and we were hit by a string of losses. Otherwise, Satmos was not supposed to have gone through this struggle,” he said.
Mading said the game was difficult but ‘we had to survive nonetheless and we did exactly that.’ “Had we drawn we would still have been on the safe side,” he declared before adding that ‘our game plan was set in such a way that we eliminated any possible pressure.’
“I told my boys to play the game the way they wanted and this paid dividends in the end,” he concluded.
It was Satmos marksman, Oteng Oganne who took the responsibility of ensuring that his team continues to play in the elite league next season by scoring a brace and his captain, Thobo Kgoboge put matters beyond any doubt by adding the third goal. Tasc’s consolation goal came from their captain, Tebogo Mothusi that was never celebrated as Tasc supporters remained shocked and dampened by the defeat while Satmos supporters had every reason to celebrate in the end.
