Govt urged to assist local IT companies
FORMER President Sir Ketumile Masire has called on government to take remedial action to correct the lack of participation of citizen owned businesses in the Information Technology industry.

IMPLEMENTING a new Information Technology (IT) system is seen as a major step in improving the performance of many organisations. In Botswana we can boast of relatively sophisticated IT systems and even a cursory examination of the leading organisations reveals the presence of some advanced integrated technology solutions.

THIS is the second and last part of my contribution to this debate. There are some counter examples, which show that productivity can be increased in Botswana. The large factory at the Moshana quarry outside Kanye, which makes bricks, roof tiles and hollow core concrete slabs, has increased its productivity by a factor of three over the last five years.

New fund launched by African Alliance Capital
AFRICAN Alliance Capital, the investment banking division of African Alliance Botswana yesterday launched a new private equity fund. The P300 m Fund, known as African Alliance Private Equity Fund 1, will be an eight-year closed-ended Fund that will invest only in private equity opportunities and will be managed by African Alliance Capital.
