Shouldn’t every child be a wanted child? MY first reaction to last week’s letter by “Mokwepa Walotlatlana”, about my earlier columns on China, was to ignore it, as coming from someone hiding behind a pseudonym meaning Night Adder. Rradinoga is clearly a male coming from an elite comfort zone, with little grasp of the realities of poverty, here. This, together with his snide humour, weakens both his criticism of China and his overly positive evaluation of Botswana’s social services. The Customer, the red-ink money and the law
AS I entered the bank, I was greeted by a long meandering queue. And in spite of my exasperation, I managed a low chuckle. Funny, I thought, how a little over a year ago the scene that unfolded before me evoked a warm knowing feeling- a feeling of being indeed back home after a rather protracted academic sojourn abroad. Now I felt nothing but disgust. The sacrificial goat
SMOOCH has solved the problem of the escaped goat by actually untying a goat and letting it escape. Mr. Kool thinks otherwise. He maintains that it is a stolen goat, and no goat, and no god will accept a sacrifice, no matter how sacrificial, for as long as it is acquired through unholy and illegal means.Botswana has an official religion
THE editorial comment in Mmegi of 8 July 2004 (Address religious intolerance), and Duma Boko’s column (Our Republic has no official religion) in the Monitor of 12 July 2004 have prompted this response. I want to state from the outset that I am a Christian.
