MoH makes progress in Smoking Act
THE Environmental Health division in the Ministry of Health has made some progress in its negotiations aimed at repealing the Control of Smoking Act of 1992 (CSA 1992). The consultations are however still on going and the views would be incorporated and presented to the consultant.

JOHANNESBURG: De Beers was one of the best performing units of Anglo American plc, last year analysts said yesterday. The world gem giant is expected to report a five percent rise in 2003 rough stone sales when it gives its figures on Thursday.

GM takes over Delta SA
GENERAL Motors has taken over Delta Motor Corporation (SA). However GM has Delta to thank for a fairly easy re-entry into the market. Delta not only survived in one of the most capital-intensive, volatile and competitive industries without the backing of GM after the US giant withdrew from SA in 1986, but it went on to expand substantially.

Rand firms on export sales, seen in range
JOHANNESBURG: The Rand firmed yesterday as exporters sold dollars in quiet trade. However traders said gains were likely to be contained within a tight range around the 7/dollar mark.
