FAIRGROUND Holdings announced yesterday that it would be moving from its core business of hosting exhibitions to staging their own homegrown Information Exhibition (ITEX), which would become an annual event.

Joyce Thema Chief Executive Officer Fairground Holdings said that the exhibition is born out of the need to promote potential growth sectors of the Botswana economy.

The event will take place at the Boipuso Hall chambers.

A hand of invitation by the organisers has been extended to among other IT companies like; Botswana Technology Centre (BOTEC), BOTSNET, Botswana Telecommunications Authority (BTA), Botswana Export Development and Investment Agency (BEDIA), which would be hosting an Indian investment mission next week.

“We expect to have about 50 exhibitors coming to the ITEX exhibition. There is a risk element to every business, but we are aggressive enough to host the exhibition. We expect that the respond would be good and I hope it would be a success,” Thema said.

The theme for the event would be “Information Technology: Gateway to Competitiveness in the Global Economy”.

The exhibition would try to highlight the importance of the Information Technology (IT) in the global economy.

Fairground Holdings has over the years been hosting trade fairs and other exhibitions without staging their own.

The ITEX showpiece would target exhibitors who would showcase the latest technologies that operate on global information networks.

Thema said that the stakeholders would be exposed to an upto date discussion on knowledge management, Internet governance, intellectual property rights, and security and privacy matters and about how a globally networked information economy works.

The exhibition will run from April 8th to 11th this year. Send us your comments about Mmegi newspaper Search For Old Newspaper Editions To advertise contact us through email
