Bring down Khama’s statue, residents say
SELEBI-PHIKWE: Residents here have reiterated a call to bring down the statue of the first president Sir Seretse Khama because its artwork is “imperfect”. The residents say that the statue is not a true reflection of Khama, and their past pleas that it should be removed have been ignored.

Tswapong village in chieftaincy crisis
The chieftaincy crisis that hit Majwaneng village in Tswapong last August may take long to resolve. The crisis came after the death of the village headman, Tholo Molebatsi. It was triggered by rival claims by the Molebatsi and Tshwabi families, who have been involved in a bitter rivalry over the succession of the headman.

FRANCISTOWN: Martin’s Drift police are investigating a case in which a businessman in Ratholo village is alleged to have shot dead a suspected thief.

Minors in rape incident
FRANCISTOWN: An 11-year-old boy is alleged to have raped a two-year-old girl at Jamataka village on Monday. The Station Commander for Tatitown police, Superintendent Seabe Maboka said yesterday that his officers are investigating the incident.

Ministry tries to locate Botswana couple in disaster region
THE ministry of foreign affairs is still trying to locate two Batswana who are on holiday in Sri-Lanka, following the tsunamis (tidal waves) that swept across the Indian Ocean from Thailand to Somalia on Sunday, claiming close to 50,000 lives.

Mysterious fire destroys night club
FRANCISTOWN: Police officers, soldiers and firefighters failed to save the Night Moves club from a raging inferno last Friday. The owner of the building Tymon Mongwa said the cause of the fire is unknown.
