The recent All-Party Conference undermines democracy
OF course, President Festus Mogae and his ministers were right when they said that the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) was not returned to power to implement the policies of the opposition parties. They were probably also right when they pointed out that the all-party conference could still be convened even if all the opposition parties boycotted it, and only the BDP turned up. In other words, we could end up with an all-party conference attended by the BDP only!
