The two doctors confirmed to Mmegi that they wrote to the deputy permanent secretary in the ministry of health, Dr Patson Mazonde, enquiring about their colleague’s status. “We were suspicious and just wanted to confirm with the ministry,” said one of the doctors.
Mazonde refused to disclose whether Iyang was licensed to practise in Gantsi. He argued that it was unethical to make any disclosure as the matter was under investigation. But he admitted that the matter has dragged on for about a year. “This matter is not foreign to our office,” he said.
