Opinion/Letters
Is global warming really this bad?
“AFTER a decade as Editor in Chief (of the National Geographic) I have a pretty good idea of which articles will provoke a lot of angry letters. Whenever we publish stories that challenge widely held beliefs, some readers get mad and they write to let us know.

Involvement of UB in politics is desirable
IN your online edition of August 10, 2004 Never Tshabang opines that the University of Botswana is politicised and needs to be de-politicised so that all can concentrate on their immediate responsibilities. Tshabang is perhaps insinuating that the level of political activism at UB compromises a good teaching and learning environment.

Remove the log in thy eye first
I would like to clarify to Bugalo Maripe that my opinion on depoliticising the University of Botswana does not stem from political party lines and is also not influenced by popular ignorance - that professionals should have nothing to do with politics. My contention is that the core business of the institution should enjoy complete freedom from political activism.

The Inquest
The rumour spread like a bushfire roaring in the harmattan. Actually, a more appropriate metaphor in our part of the world would be something like a bushfire roaring through the dry veldt. It spread so fast and so wide that even those who had not paid their shebeen accounts got wind of it.
