It would also help the university if senior positions are not held by people who currently reign over national political parties.
I have difficulty with Maripe’s view of encouraging the university to be a place of high political activity on the basis that it is “a market place of ideas”, reason and ideology regardless of the “morals” of those who plant, advertise, lead and direct those ideas, reasons and ideologies. Maripe’s view concurs with BNF secretary general Akanyang Magama and Professor Kenneth Good’s evasive comments that UB’s high-powered politicians should be left alone for they know what they are doing. I don’t think it should be left as simple as that because the activism might have long-term implications.
society, not half-baked for political needs.
academic justification of why we should have such a large number of them at UB. Mature academics should be envied but politicians should be handled with caution.
“bulela ditswe” even though most of them seem to make BDP their political home. My observation is that they resigned before showing their colours, which I think is what I advocate for every politician to do.
Morake, applied to head the Independent Electoral Commission, there was a huge outcry from the opposition that the institution would be biased towards the ruling party. I don’t understand why those who see a lot of political hypocrisy from the ruling party also fail to see the huge log in their eyes as well.
