TUTUME: Tutume police have arrested a 51-year old Zimbabwean illegal immigrant in connection with the continuous defilement of two minors in Nswazwi village.

The minors are sisters. It is alleged that the two sisters have been taking turns in providing sexual favours to the Zimbabwean man. The story as related by the police who are investigating the matter indicate that the sisters became aware for the first time at the police station that they played “wives” for the past months, to their Zimbabwean neighbour.

The two sisters are aged 13 and 15. The elder of the two is in Form Two while the younger one is in standard five.

Unfortunately for the elder sister, her school days have come to an abrupt end, due to an “unplanned” pregnancy believed to be the responsibility of the man who is old enough to be the grandfather of the two minors. It has since become apparent that there was no form of protection employed during the sexual acts.

According to the police, the man was exposed after the elder of the two sisters fell pregnant recently and “confessed” to having been impregnated by the man who is currently in police custody.

“It is the parents who reported the matter to the police and it emerged that the two young girls had continuously had sexual intercourse with the man,” the police said. Senior Superintendent Boikhutso Dintwa of Kutlwano police and the area officer commanding told Mmegi yesterday that the young girls have been keeping the secret about the “sexual relationship” to themselves “because the man has been giving them monetary gifts to silence them”.

The case has shattered the parents of the two girls and there is fear that the case could further severe the relationship between neighbours. For the coming weeks and months, the case will remain the talk of the village.

“The Zimbabwean man is facing two separate charges of defilement of girls under 16 years and staying in the country unlawfully,” explained Dintwa. He added that, the employer of the illegal alien will face a charge of unlawfully employing him. Meanwhile, Tutume police are investigating a case in which an 18 -year -old Mathangwane woman was reportedly raped by her former boyfriend along the Shashe River on Good Friday. According to the police, the boyfriend dragged the young woman against her will, to the riverbank, where he repeatedly raped her.

“The woman told us that she was stabbed with a knife after the rape incident and was left sprawled on the ground bleeding profusely from the stab wounds,” said the police.

According to Dintwa, the suspect has been arrested and is facing a charge of rape and unlawful wounding.
